The Author

Richard Haslam

Richard James Haslam is an extraordinary author whose imaginative prowess gives life to the Now.Here Saga. Born on April 2, 1989, in Bolton, Greater Manchester, Richard's journey has been anything but ordinary. Growing up with High Functioning Autism, Richard's early years were shaped by a unique blend of experiences that would later inspire his writing. From the enchanting narratives of beloved TV shows like "The Dreamstone" and "Watership Down" to the profound influence of Bethesda's immersive video games such as "Skyrim" and "Fallout 4", his childhood ignited a passion for storytelling.

Having navigated various challenges, including a bout with Meningitis at 3 that marked a pivotal moment in his early education, Richard transitioned from a rebellious youth to a dedicated writer, with guidance from his carer, Sally Baylis. His time spent at Callow Park in Derbyshire, a disabled boarding college, fostered his independence and creativity, laying the foundation for his literary endeavours.

In the wake of a transformative move to Penwortham near Preston in Lancashire during the pandemic, Richard seized the opportunity to harness his surroundings, finding inspiration in the tranquillity of nature. His debut publication, "Kiona the Gardenian", released on October 12, 2020—"Now.Here Day"—has garnered critical acclaim, including a prestigious 5-star rating from "Reader's Favourite" and "Authors Reading". With an innovative spirit, Richard skilfully merged multiple narratives to craft a saga that explores a Post-Apocalyptic Past, challenging conventions and captivating readers.

Now recognized by "Autism Initiative" and "Blog Preston" for his remarkable contributions, Richard continues to defy expectations with his engaging storytelling. His works, including "The Maid of the Heart" and "Rubecula & Nascha", showcase not only his creativity but also a deep understanding of the human experience. From the first sketches of his characters in 2005 to the celebrated author he is today, Richard Haslam exemplifies the power of resilience and imagination in a world of endless possibilities.
